Take a Mate

Take a Mate is the Rodney District 's community based carpool scheme. The scheme has been running since July 2007 and continues to grow. It's a safe way to cut the cost of commuting by sharing a ride to work and other destinations with people from your community .

Take a Mate is going regional! We're delighted to share with you our new service which includes the whole Auckland region. This means that you'll be able to connect with more people over a larger geographical area therefore increasing the chances for better carpool matches.

Joining is easy and it's free! All personal information is kept secure and cannot be viewed by others. To get started click on the register button, create a profile and the website will generate a matchlist of potential partners that best suit your schedule. You then contact the person of your choice and start carpooling.

What users are saying....

"I wasn't easily converted. I kinda liked my independence and travelling at my own pace, but now, I wouldn't travel any other way. It's so flexible and there's no hard n' fast rules. I'm saving heaps on fuel and vehicle wear and tear, and I get to relax when I'm not driving. If I'm lucky I even get a tip or two on what to cook for dinner! It's also nice to know I'm doing my bit for the environment. I'm hooked." - Jenni

"I wasn't sure about carpooling. I was new to the area and didn't know anyone, but it's neat. I've made new friends and learnt heaps about where I live. Although I've definitely saved money, the best thing after a stressful day is to share the high and lows and if I'm not driving I enjoy sitting back, relaxing and taking in the scenery. Who wouldn't want to carpool!" – Christine
